ECOMMERCE
What Is D2C?
D2C is shorthand for Direct-to-Consumer, commonly also known as D2C ecommerce, is a term for an ecommerce strategy where traditional B2B businesses (business selling to businesses) start selling directly to end-consumers, usually done using their own online ecommerce website.
What is the difference between D2C e-commerce and a traditional retailer business model?
D2C e-commerce is when the manufacturer/producer of the product or service sells its products/produce directly to consumers from their website cutting the middleman with the aim of controlling the selling process as well as leaving bigger profits for itself. Research has also shown that 55% of consumers prefer to shop directly with the brand manufacturer over retailers.
