GoogleBot can add products to shopping carts but it’s only happening to specific merchants. According to SEJ, contrary to common impressions about this topic, Google isn’t crawling and adding products to random shopping carts. What is really going on is that merchants who participate in Google Shopping agree to have their sites crawled, including their shopping cart.

These are the facts about Googlebot and shopping carts you need to know:

1) Google is not adding products to the shopping carts of random merchants.

2) Google is testing and adding products to the shopping carts of merchants who participate in Google’s shopping, merchant and Shopping Ads services.

3) Every merchant who participates in those Google programs agrees to that kind of crawling, as agreement is required for participation.

Google Say Spam Reports Are Not Triggering Any Manual Actions

Google updated guidelines to say spam reports are not for manual actions

Google only uses spam reports to improve its spam prevention algorithms.

Google announced on the Google webmaster blog that spam reports they are receiving are only to improve Google’s spam detection algorithms. Google says that when you submit a spam report, there is no immediate action taken towards the website you’re reporting and no manual actions will happen. As Google improves its algorithms it will could effect the reported website’s ranking as shown on the Google search results.
