Click-through rate is the ratio of users who click on a specific link to the number of total users who view the page, email, or ad, presented in percentage. For example, if 100 users clicked on a link out of 1,000 users that view the page with the link, the click through rate is 10%, calculated 100 divided by 1,000.
It is important to distinguish what a click-through rate does and does not measure. The CTR measures what percentage of people clicked on the ad to arrive at the destination site; it does not include the people who failed to click, yet arrived at the site later as a result of seeing the ad.
What Is Email Click Through Rate?
Email click through rate is the ratio of users who clicked on a specific link inside the email to the number of total users who opened the email. For example, if 250 users clicked on a link inside an email out of 1,000 users that view the email, the email click through rate is 25%, calculated 250 divided by 1,000.
