Premier League title prediction: who will win the 2023-2024 Premier League?

“Premier

Once again, every Premier League matchday promises to be extremely tightly contested from top to bottom until the end of the 2023-2024 season, as was the case last year and in previous years in English football.

In the various legendary stadiums of the English league, from Old Trafford to the Emirates Stadium, via Anfield and Stamford Bridge, England's top clubs will be battling it out for the league title, but also for places in the Champions League, the Europa League and the Europa Conference League, or simply to stay in the English top flight.

It's been a drama filled season so far in the Premer League and it's now looking like we have a two-way battle to decide the league winners! Man City and Arsenal are separated by just a single point with Arsenal currently sitting in the top position. However, the Citizens have a game-in-hand advantage, making them the considerable favorites at this point. A string of disappointing results for Liverpool has them hanging on by a thread as they trail the Gunners by five points with only two games left on the fixture list. Arsenal secured a comfortable 3-0 home win over Bournemouth on matchday 36 to keep their title hopes alive. Man City decimated Wolves 5-1 at home to remain right on the Gunners' heels. The defending champions final three fixtures read as: Fulham, Tottenham and West Ham as they look to secure their third consecutive league title. As for our prediction, we're sticking with our original belief that the depth of the Manchester City squad, their experience and the overall supreme talent level that they possess will be enough to see them over the line.

Our prediction: we believe that again it'll be Manchester City champions of England 2023-2024!

Premier League Top 4 prediction: which teams will qualify for the Champions League?

Aston Villa players celebrate

Betting on the Premier League isn't all about who will be the champions. There's also the battle to finish in the top 4 and qualify for the group stages of the 2024-25 Champions League.

Our prediction for these four Champions League places is as follows: Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Aston Villa!

Behind Manchester City, who are expected to again be champions of England, the Reds look more than capable of taking a place in the top four. Liverpool missed out last season but we believe they are destined for a top four finish this term, as well as Arsenal who have been incredibly consistent under Mikel Arteta. The final spot looks set to be a battle between Tottenham and Aston Villa. Unai Emery will be disappointed with his team's recent 1-0 defeat to Brighton. However, an awful run of four consecutive victories from Tottenham means that Aston Villa have all but wrapped up fourth-place and a spot in the UEFA Champions League next season. They currently lead fifth-placed Tottenham by seven points, although Spurs have a game in hand advantage. Ange Postecoglou's side would have to beat Burnley, Man City and Sheffield United while hoping that Aston Villa fail to win either of their remaining two matches for them to steal away the fourth-place position. Therefore, our prediction for the top four reads as: Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa.

Premier League prediction - odds on the favorites for a place in the Top 4:

  • Aston Villa - 1.025
  • Tottenham - 17.00

Which Premier League team(s) could qualify for the Europa League?

Tottenham to qualify for the UEL

As well as the FA Cup winner, the eventual fifth-placed Premier League side will qualify for the UEFA Europa League for the 2024-2025 season. Finishing fifth will take a team into the Europa League but sixth might too. That was the case last season when Brighton finished sixth but went into the Europa League due to Manchester City (already in the Champions League) winning the FA Cup. That may well happen again in the 2023/24 season. It may also be that Aston Villa win the Conference League this season and that'd take them into next season's Europa League. The race for the Europa League spot is looking set in stone as we approach the end of the campaign. Tottenham have a four point lead over Newcastle heading into both teams' final three league fixtures. Spurs should be able to hold on with winnable matches against Burnley and Sheffield United still to come.

Our belief is that the top five in the Premier League this season will be: Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Tottenham in the top five.

Which Premier League club will Qualify for the Europa Conference League?

michail-antonio-of-west-ham

The club finishing sixth (or perhaps even seventh) in the Premier League this season could qualify for the 2024-25 UEFA Europa Conference League (ECL). Considered to be Europe's third most prestigious cup competition, the ECL saw West Ham United lift the trophy last season. This new season sees Aston Villa taking part. Officially, the winner of the English League Cup will qualify for the competition. But if a club that qualifies for the Champions League via the league wins the cup, then 6th or 7th place could qualify.

The Top 5 teams look all but nailed on at this point, leaving the battle for the final European qualification spot in the league standings. It's certainly going to be an interesting finish with Newcastle, Manchester United and Chelsea all within two points of one another. Newcastle are currently the frontrunners as they sit two points clear of the other two teams with three matches remaining for each. The Geordies are playing great at the moment with back-to-back wins and nine goals scored in their last two outings. They also hold a far superior goal differential when compared with Manchester United and Chelsea, and Eddie Howe's side should be able to ulimtately lock up a top six finish.

Our prediction: Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Newcastle in the Top 6.

Relegation predictions: which PL club will finish in the bottom three?

Premier League relegation prediction

At the very bottom of the table, the battle to avoid relegation to the Championship promises to be just as intense in the Premier League this season, and we're hoping for as much excitement as last season. As a reminder, the clubs that finish 18th, 19th and 20th at the end of the season will be relegated to the Championship for the 2024-25 season. We may well see another surprise as was the case last season when Leicester City were relegated. A 3-1 away win for Nottingham Forest over Sheffield at the weekend all but put the final nail in the coffin for Luton Town in their maiden Premier League season. The Hatters now trail Forest by three points with two games remaining while also having a far worse goal differential. Our prediction for the teams filling the bottom three spots in the Premier League are: Sheffield United, Burnley and Luton Town.

Premier League prediction - relegation odds:

  • Sheffield United - N/A
  • Burnley - 1.01
  • Luton Town - 1.05
  • Nottingham Forest - 9.00

Premier League top scorer prediction 2023-2024: which player will score the most goals?

Haaland scores vs WolvesIn addition to the several betting markets we have just mentioned, there is also the ability to bet on who will be the top goal scorer in the 2023-2024 Premier League season. A fantastic four-goal performance by Erling Haaland against Wolves at the weekend sees him with one hand on the Golden Boot trophy for a second straight season. The Norwegian has found the net 25 times in the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, giving him a sizable lead over Chelsea's shining young star Cole Palmer who is in second with 21 goals. Behind those two sit Newcastle's Alexander Isak (20), who is in scintillating form with eight goals in his last seven games, Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins (19), Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke (18) and Liverpool's Mo Salah (18).

While he has not reached the unbelievable highs of last season, Haaland is finishing the season strong and has a healthy lead over the rest of the pack. Therefore, our 2023/24 top goalscorer prediction is Erling Haaland!

Premier League prediction - top scorer odds:

  • Erling Haaland (Manchester City) - 1.02
  • Cole Palmer (Chelsea) - 26.00
  • Alexander Isak (Newcastle United) - 41.00
  • Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa) - 151.00
  • Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) - 501.00
  • Heung-Min Son (Tottenham) -  501.00
  • Dominic Solanke (Bournemouth) - 1001.00

Beginners Guide to how the English Premier League works

The Premier League is the highest division in English football. This elite competition pits England's top 20 teams against each other via a system of home and away matches. Initially, all the clubs meet once, and then the reverse fixtures are played as the season progresses. In all, there are 38 match days on the calendar, for a total of 380 games.

At the end of the Premier League season this is what happens:

  • The club ranked first is champion of England and qualifies for the Champions League.
  • The clubs ranked 2nd, 3rd and 4th qualify for the Champions League group stages.
  • The 5th-placed club qualifies for the Europa League (and potentially the 6th, depending on who wins the FA Cup).
  • The club ranked 6th or 7th qualifies for the Europa Conference League (depending on who wins the English League Cup)
  • Clubs finishing 18th, 19th and 20th are relegated to the Championship.

There is therefore a lot at stake in the English Premier League. This explains why making predictions on Premier League games is obviously one of the most popular at the best online bookmakers by English punters every weekend.

How to make good predictions on Premier League matches?

Premier League match predictions

To make a winning Premier League prediction, you first need to have a good knowledge of the league, but you also need to use your betting skills. As a specialist in the Premier League for many years, SportyTrader offers you its main and best tips for making the right predictions:

  • Check the form of each Premier League team
  • Take into account the clubs' fixture lists
  • Take note of the list of players absent from the Premier League
  • Look at the psychological context of the PL match
  • Analysis of the latest Premier League statistics

These 5 tips for predicting Premier League matches are among the most important according to our betting experts, but they are obviously not the only ones. Find out more about each one below!

Consider the form of each Premier League team

“Premier

To make a reliable Premier League prediction, the first thing you need to do is check the latest results of the clubs you are predicting. For example, a club like Manchester United are playing Brentford but have not won in 5 games, while the visitors are on a 9-game unbeaten run. At Old Trafford, the Red Devils will obviously start as favourites but, in this situation, a reliable prediction might be to try the double chance of a draw or Brentford. An in-form squad will always be preferable for your Premier League bets.

To go a little further on this point, we think it's important to remind you of one thing: you shouldn't just look at the scores of recent matches, but also analyse the key statistics. How many goals are a side scoring and conceding? What is their home or away form in recent matches? How many goals have been scored in games? This data is obviously going to help you in making your prediction.

Take into account the clubs' fixture list

The second point we think is important to take into account when making Premier League predictions, but also football predictions in general: you need to check each team's fixture list before making a bet. Let's take the example of a clash between Everton and Arsenal. It's important to note that the Toffees are not playing in European competition this season, while Arsenal are in the Champions League. This means Everton won’t have as many games to play as their opponents.

Now let's imagine that the Gunners have just played Manchester City and Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and will travel to the San Siro next week before playing Manchester United in the league. Arsenal are likely to rotate their squad so some top players might be left out for the game against Everton. You need to be wary of this when making your prediction on the game.

As you will have gathered, teams' sometimes overcrowded schedules can explain some unexpected results and coaching decisions. If possible, we advise you to wait for the official line-up before placing your bet. This could more than once save you from losing money.

Take a look at the list of players missing in the Premier League

“Premier

Following on from the previous tip, which was to consult the team's line-up or at least the group of players called up, the players absent for a given match or period of time will be important. Whether it's due to injury, suspension, family reasons, being left out of the squad or some other reason, key players are sometimes absent, and this may have a huge impact on their club's results.

Is the captain injured? Is the usual goalkeeper suspended? Check the absences carefully and don't place large bets when making a Premier League prediction if you notice any major absences. This could obviously help you avoid some costly losses.

Focus on the psychological context of the PL match

Focusing on the psychological side of the match you want to bet on is also very important if you want to make a good prediction. A number of factors need to be taken into account in English football: whether or not there is a rivalry between the clubs, the various statements made by players and/or coaches before the match, a tense final encounter or a problem that has arisen, a major issue at stake in the match, etc. There are a huge number of things that can have a mental impact on teams and players, and this factor is certainly not to be overlooked.

If you're a fan of goal predictions, such as "both teams score" or an Over on the Premier League, for example, you'll need to be wary of high-pressure fixtures (such as a duel for survival at the very end of the season or a derby), which can be less prolific in terms of goals. Look at how important the game is to each club. A team that can’t qualify for Europe but are safe from relegation may begin to experiment with their starting line-up and blood new players. Other scenarios are possible, and it's up to you to analyse them carefully and take them into account. If you don't want to miss out on anything, our expert tipsters obviously do so for each of their Premier League match predictions!

Analyse the latest Premier League statistics

Premier League Prediction Help - Soccer

The fifth and final piece of vital advice is to systematically analyse the statistics for each team in the Premier League! In fact, knowing the different stats will help you to place better bets on the matches, and to make expert predictions on the different alternative bets (Under/Over, exact score, match result, half-time with the most goals, goalscorer, etc.).

Has a team seen the "both teams score" prediction in a high percentage of its Premier League matches since the start of the 2023/2024 season? If so then that stat has a good chance of coming up again in their next fixture. That’s just one of the many examples you can use to analyse the statistics. And don't hesitate to take advantage of the welcome bonuses offered by the best bookmakers on the market if you want to try a few bets.

Before concluding this section on our tips for making good predictions, please note that each of our editors always takes these 5 points and many others into account when making each Premier League prediction throughout the season.

As you can see, by simply consulting our Premier League match predictions, you can be sure of having the most reliable overall view of the matches. If you haven't already done so, get into the habit of reading our predictions before each Premier League match, especially if you're planning to place bets with the operators!

What not to do for your Premier League predictions

In order to make as many Premier League predictions as possible, there are a few things you should avoid doing. Here are the main ones that we strongly advise you to avoid when making a prediction on a Premier League match:

  • Not analysing the Premier League match
  • Take into account only a club's prestige and not its form
  • Not analysing the odds on offer and missing the most attractive one
  • Betting on a Premier League match with nothing at stake at the end of the season
  • Wanting to make up for losing a bet
  • Betting on bookmakers' boosted odds without carrying out an analysis
  • Betting repeatedly on your favourite team

All too often, both beginners and more experienced punters get caught out and lose bets and money far too easily by adopting one of these bad habits. This is something to be avoided in the new Premier League season!

Premier League prediction: statistics you need to know

Premier League statistics

If you want to make the most of your Premier League bets, you'll also need to know the key statistics for the English league. Here are the most important ones to remember for your Premier League predictions, all taken from the current edition (2023/24) of the competition with 28 games in the books for most teams:

  • Home win percentage: 46%
  • Draw percentage: 21%
  • Away win percentage: 33%
  • Average goals: 3.24 goals per game
  • Over 1.5 goals: 86%
  • Under 1.5 goals: 14%
  • Over 2.5 goals: 65%
  • Under 2.5 goals: 35%
  • Over 3.5 goals: 43%
  • Under 3.5 goals: 57%
  • “Both teams score: yes”: 62% of matches
  • Clean sheet percentage: 41% of matches
  • First half goals: 41%
  • Second half goals: 59%
  • Correct score 0-0: 2.8% of matches
  • Most frequent score: 1-1 (9.9% of games)
  • Most frequent half time score: 0-0 (26.5% of games)

When betting on the Premier League, it might therefore be worth opting for the "More than 2.5 goals" or "Team 2 goals" bets. In the event of really interesting odds, the exact score 1-0 is also an alternative which could enable you to win a few euros. Even if nothing is guaranteed in advance, and even less so on this type of bet.

Premier League : Frequently Asked Questions

The English Premier League can be seen live on Sky Sports and TNT Sports. Highlights can be seen on the BBC. If you can't watch a match, our 100% free Premier League Livescore is available!

As well as receiving the Premier League trophy, the league champions win a great deal of money. Last season, Manchester City raised no less than 175 million euros. This year, for the eventual winners of the English Premier League, the amount should be similar, if not slightly higher.

For this 2023-2024 edition of the Premier League, no fewer than 7 London clubs will be playing in the top flight. They include Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, West Ham, Brentford and Fulham!

The Red Devils of Manchester United have won the most Premier League titles in history. In total, the club based at Old Trafford has won 20 trophies! Just behind them are arch-rivals Liverpool, with 19 titles. Arsenal are third with 13 titles, while Everton and Manchester City share fourth place with 9 each. The Blues have won 7 of their 9 Premier League titles since 2012. Finally, Aston Villa have won the league 7 times, while Chelsea and Sunderland are just behind with 6 titles.

England's Jimmy Greaves is the all-time top scorer in the English top flight with 357 goals. However, if we look only at the Premier League period (from 1992-1993), it is the legendary Alan Shearer who tops the list, with 260 goals. Just behind him is Tottenham striker Harry Kane, with 213 goals but now playing in the Bundesliga. Behind the captain of the Three Lions are some of the league's legendary players, including Wayne Rooney, Andy Cole, Sergio Agüero, Frank Lampard, Thierry Henry, Robbie Fowler, Jermain Defoe, Michael Owen and Les Ferdinand!
